What Is Bhakti Yoga?

Yoga is a vast and beautiful universe. Each path invites us to explore a different dimension of the self — the body, the mind, the energy, the meditation. But there is one path that goes straight to the heart: Bhakti Yoga.
The word bhakti means devotion, loving surrender. It is considered the yoga of the heart, where the practice is not so much about control or discipline, but about opening, trusting, and connecting with the divine through the experience of love.
Bhakti expresses itself through mantra recitation, chanting, music, dance, offerings, and — above all — pure intention. It is the reminder that the sacred lives in the everyday.
Among the foundational texts of this tradition, the Bhagavad Gita holds a very special place. It reminds us that any action, if offered from the heart, can become yoga — a union with the divine.

My Encounter with Bhakti Yoga
My first deep encounter with Bhakti happened when I attended a class where we sang mantras accompanied by a harmonium. That experience marked me forever — something inside me opened, a vibration moved through my whole body, and I knew I had found medicine for the soul.
That love led me to train in Bhakti Yoga with the International Yoga School, where I learned the foundations of this path and discovered how chanting and devotion could be woven into the practice of yoga in a simple yet deeply transformative way.
A few months after that first class, I bought my own harmonium and began studying mantra chanting. Soon I started bringing it into my yoga classes so my students could experience that same sense of connection and heart-opening.
Bhakti Yoga in My Teaching
For me, Bhakti is not just a separate practice — it is an attitude towards life, a seed that quietly weaves itself into every class I share.Mantras have become a way to close our sessions, to ease into meditation, and most importantly, to remember that yoga can also be sung, felt, and celebrated.
You don’t need to “know how to sing” to experience Bhakti Yoga. All you need is an open heart and a willingness to let yourself be carried by the sound, the vibration, and the surrender.
✨ Bhakti Yoga has taught me that the spiritual path does not have to be heavy or rigid. It can be light, joyful, vibrant. It can sing, it can dance, it can resonate within us.
If you ever join my classes or my community, you will see that mantras and the harmonium have a special place. They are an invitation to open your heart and allow the practice to become unforgettable.
🌸 To close this post, I want to leave you with a mantra that, for me, embodies the spirit of Bhakti:
“Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu”May all beings, in all worlds, be happy and free.
With love always,Angiie
